ID please

This recently sprung up in the garden. The were about 5 or 6 shoots, pretty much all from the same spot.

there used to be a sycamore in the garden before we arrived, so I'm thinking it wasnt properly removed and this is new growth. The fact that there was more than one shoot suggests it wasn't a stray seed.

any ideas?

    Fair enough Dove. Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll put an acer in its place

    Almost anything would be preferable in a garden of less than an acre image

    It's nowhere near that size. I measure it in 'hands'!
