Newbie Lavendar Dilemna

image

Hi folks, I'm a newbie to the forum. Last summer I took softwood cuttings from a mature French Lavender. Only 1 survived the winter, but since potting on, it  has mysteriously changed into an English Lavender (see image) Can anyone explain this please? It's a cutting, so should be a "clone" of the mother plant? Are Lavenders grafted onto different root-stocks, like roses are?

I'm stumped (pardon the pun!), so if anyone can shed light on this I would much appreciate it.

Cheers

I feel Tetley maybe right, that's a mighty big plant for a last years cutting. They are quite slow growing.

Thanks for the replies folks. Definitely the same plan, as I only had

1 lavender in my garden from which I took about 20 softwood cuttings and this was the only survivor - Scottish winters.

Everyone I've asked is as baffled as I am!

    Very strange.
