is it true that kitty litter can stop slugs and snails eating your plants and will it harm the plant, I keep picking them off plants and placing them in the bin , but I stil keep finding more followring day

Haven't heard that one but would be wary of trying it in case it encouraged even more cats to poo on my garden

Seriously annmarie - handpicking is the best way of getting rid of them. If you can do it regularly - in spring especially, you make a big dent on the population - just when plants are starting into growth and are vulnerable to munching molluscs.

yes I think you may be right picking them up is the only way , but it amazing how quick they appear, when you think you've seen the last of them, their back again you see them swim I chucked some in the pond the other day for the frog they looked like they were on race track boy they could move
I use slug beer traps and these are fairly effective. Can I put the beer plus dead slugs into my compost bin?
