Sisters hanging baskets have been attached by something white & sticky?

Hi, my sister has some hanging baskets with trailing calibrachoa in, they have been attacked by something white and stick, any ideas what it could be and what to do??

    It's probably whitefly which are tiny aphid type insects which secrete honeydew which is very sticky.

    You could try washing the whitefly and the honeydew off first with water from a hose and gently rubbing the leaves. Other methods are soap-based sprays and other sprays, but that might also get rid of beneficial insects that are natural predators.
