How long should a poinsettia flower for as mine still has flowers on it which have been there since before christmas

I always mange to kill mine so have stopped buying them, not great with indoor plants
rejoice in your success and start cutting off light in about October ( stick it in the spare room with no light )
Mine still has the red leaves but no flowers. Mine flowered a second time about Easter but the second lot of teeny flowers are long gone. There are now new green leaves sprouting between the red ones.
I am looking forward to trying to get it to colour up again for xmas.
Mines been on an unheated south facing windowsill since it was purchased. How have you kept yours?
my poinsettia is in the spare bedroom on the windowsill. i just move it when the sun is out
