Autumn time for those, although bluebells are sometimes best in spring 'in the green' - which just means you wait till the flowers have finished and buy them when the foliage is still on them. Nurseries and online suppliers will sell them at that time. You can browse the catalogues of online bulb suppliers just now and order them for autumn delivery
If you want more structure for winter, there are loads of evergreens which will do the job depending on the size of the space and the aspect. If you can give a few more details of your space there will be lots of suggestions Sam

Hey fairygirl thanks I shall plant in autumn along the path and inbetween the perennials. the garden is small about 20ft long think I can only do pansies as no space for much more.the perennials take over a bit! Cheers Sam
I have a very narrow border along my back fence Sam - it contains a real mix of bulbs, native primulas, perennials and smaller evergreens like Heucheras, Pachysandra and Gaultherias. Always something to look at
