Advice On Digging Out Old Flower Bed.
I have started a bit of a long term project in an overgrown communal garden. Phase one was to get the overgrown grass down to a manageable size the 20m x 17m grass lawn which i have done,
Next phase - I have old flower borders surrounding the grass which currently has 2/3 foot high grass growing there. I have made a start by physically pulling the long grass out by hand, digging it over with a fork and then removing old roots and debris by hand.
Am i going about digging out the flower beds correctly, is there anything else i should be doing.
Long term i intend trying fruit bushes (Blueberry, Blackberry and Raspberry) in one of the borders with veg in the others.
Any advice for a new gardener would be helpful.
