tomatoes on the vine

Just picked some of my first toms in GH and a couple of tigerella from outside. Without exception each truss has got tomatoes on but not full . the tigerella had six flowers but ended up with only the two fruits. Has anyone got any suggestions as to why this is?

sounds like poor pollination, are you leaving the door open to let insects in? Try some calendula in there to tempt them in.

Tomatoes should pollinate themselves - try giving each plant a little shake every time you go into the greenhouse.

It's not uncommon, primrose. A slap (or a tickle) won't hurt the outside ones either. You can't always count on fossicking insects to trigger the self-pollination process.

I would never plant any flowers in with my tomatoes. My dad has grown them, trouble free for almost 30 years here, when I suggested putting some marigolds in there he said..you will be sorry..and I was, for the first time they attracted black fly, white fly and every other pest, so never companion planting for again.
