Asking on behalf of someone else, these have been found floating in a large pond in Glasgow. I've trawled google images of various seed pods but cannot find what it is. Any ideas?
What trees are there near the pond?
does anything that grows in Glasgow produce seeds like that?
Does anything produce seeds like that at this time of year?
Not naturally occurring would be my guess
No idea but it looks fabulous... can we hatch it, please please, and then we will know, right?
I think thats a tropical tree seed, not a pod.
I picked this up beneath tree in the botanical garden in Mauritius. It is very similar on one side, but not as big.
Possibly something growing under glass here http://www.glasgowbotanicgardens.com/the-gardens/visiting-the-gardens/
I've emailed glasgow botanic gardens, hopefully they'll have an idea as to what they are
Good idea Simon. They'll have to work out who nicked them and threw them in the pond
I've just google mapped it and the pond is 1 mile down the road from the botanic gardens!
