Silver brachyglottis

I've had a silver brachyglottis in my garden for a couple of years now but this year it's only flowered on the outer edges...no buds whatsoever on the rest of the shrub. Any ideas what's wrong?

Has it been pruned?  If so when and how?

Hi dovefromabove I pruned it about five weeks ago as it was taking over the garden. Not very good at pruning though, I just thinned it out where it was overgrown. It wasn't looking too healthy, it was all straggly and kind of woody in the middle.

Yes, you've cut off all the flowering shoots.

If it's getting woody and straggly I'd cut it hard back (even to about 8") and give it some chicken manure pellets and a good watering.  It'll happily regrow; you'll have a rejuvenated shrub and next year you'll get plenty of flowers.  image

Whew thanks Verdun it's a lovely plant but just overtook everything, I'm just a novice at gardening and never know when or how to prune things!!
