URGINEA MARITIMA

Bought this bulb at Southport Flower show last summer after seeing how majestic their flowering bulbs were - planted it centrally in a terracotta pot with gritty compost, with half the bulb above soil level.  It is still just sitting there with no sign of pushing up any growth.  It has been outside all winter up against a sheltered fence.  Should I give up on it, thought they were quite easy to grow (according to the supplier).Does anybody else grow this type of lily?

Maybe it got too wet and died. Maybe the bulb should have been placed on top of the compost.

    Take a look here

I haven't grown them. I didn't think they were hardy

Thanks for that pansyface, I think I will leave well alone after going onto your suggested website.  After such a cold spring and early summer I think I may still be in with a chance.  The bulb doesn't look rotted, just no different from when I planted it!  Will let you all know if I succeed.
