hello, I would he most gratell for some advice please - i have been given a red hot poker plant and I would like to know if it will grow in a large planter, or should I plant it in the ground? Any advice would be much appreciated,
Best in the ground, you could grow in a pot but it won't be as happy. They like well drained soil.
I've got 2 in the garden. Looks healthy but not in flower yet.
I bought three bare root pokers from Parkers last year, this year they are huge, and coming out for a walk to the compost bin. They do prefer to be in the ground, but they do spread and are a bit of a thuggish plant, unless it's just my variety.
