DT Brown Seeds Ltd

Has anyone else experienced the porr service from DT Brown Seeds Ltd?  I placed an order on 7th January for seeds, potatoes and garlic.  Still no potatoes and garlic and every week I call up the customer service people say "Sorry madam, we promise it will be with you this week for sure" and then nothing arrives.

Is the company in some sort of financial problem that they cannot ship out potatoes or garlic bulbs for 6 weeks or are they just incompetant?

Has anyone else had problems with them?

  • I had an issue withvery  late delivery of onions last year, however, the customer service was excellent. I was kept informed on a regular basis via email and was given a selection of free leek and onion plantlets as compensation

so although I had an issue I was happy with the way it was managed

I bought some seeds from them a couple of months ago and they were fine.

  • You might find they are struggling to get the stock. The floods last year destroyed fields of seed potatoes. Not saying that's what happening, just a thought image

  • Yes mine also too a long while to arrive, 4 to 6 weeks I think it was I had to threaten to go elsewhere before they arrived and no apology. They kept saying it was the snow that was holding back deliveries, well that had past weeks before so that didn't hold true. All arrived now at last, a full allotment kit in an A4 sized box image

  • Jon, it may have been snow free where you are, but we've had snow on and off since mid January (south Sheffield, not too far from Lincolnshire where a lot of seed potatoes are grown).

Not bothering to sow or plant anything until April, hoping this weather will do one before then.  Used DT Browns once before for plants, delivery was prompt & plants fine.  Maybe they were difficult to source?  Got mine from T&M on offer, but mine were all standard varieties, if you've ordered something special, maybe they are struggling to find it?  Would be a bit disgusted and threaten to take my business elsewhere if I were you, that normally makes folk wake up & sort out the problem, with some sort of compensation (normally vouchers or free seeds/plants) for you.  Hope you get it sorted out, this weather's got to pick up soon.
