Clematis Red Rebbeca

I have a Clematis, Red Rebbeca that I've had for one year. There are lots of flowers but the plant is growing more bushy rather than higher. It is around 1m high just now.

Any tips on how to encourage vertical growth.

Be grateful that it's flowering and bushy. image

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.

How did you prune it Julie? It only needs a light prune so if you cut it back too hard that's the reason, otherwise feed it before flowering is the norm and give it something decent to climb up.

Mine is the same, it's been in 2 years.
