Transplanting sunflowers

I have just found a couple of sunflowers growing in pots where there are roses growing. The sunflowers are 6 inches and 10 inches now. Will they survive being taken out and planted in the ground?

Thanks for any reply.

I guess you could rewrite your question by asking yourself if they will survive and flourish to full size if you leave them where they are for much longer?

Guessing the answer to that would be no, so you might as well go for it!

  • Just wondering whether to leave them and possibly get small flowers or chance moving them so they grow to their full size. Don't know what sort they are. Probably from seeds I bought to feed the birds.

  • I took one of the sunflowers out and planted it in the ground. Looks a bit droopy today but hopefully will come round.

Hope it's picked up by now and you are keeping it well watered image

  • Yes thanks. It's growing and looking ok. Only a foot and a half tall so not expecting miracles.
