Apples falling

Hi, my 4 year old apple tree (Red Devil) has lots of apples forming, but over the last week or two lots and lots have fallen off. There's still quite a lot on there, but wont be for long if it carries on like this. Am I doing something wrong? Ive been watering it a little, but not overly. I have watered more the last few days to try and stop the drop but haven't seen an improvement. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks Jason

Sounds like the "June drop" where most of the little fruitlets fall off leaving the few strongest ones.  Watering sounds sensible.

Phew, it sounds normal then. Hopefully ill have a few left. It is all the little tiny ones dropping so sounds like what you say it is.

    Thanks both.

It's just a natural thinning-out process. Sometimes I even help this along by picking off the smallest fruitlets, because if more than 3 or 4 are in a cluster, they will be too crowded to grow properly.
