Which Clematis

Help

I wish to purchase a Clematis to grow up an arch which already as a Rose growing up one side and slightly across top.

The Rose flowers from April (ish) so I would like a small early flowering Clematis with plenty of blooms (which most seem to have) which will display prior to the Rose

Any ideas which ???

What colour is your rose Dogbowl?  have you thought of honeysuckle as well?

I can't think of a clematis that flowers so early, except perhaps clematis cirrhosa "Freckles" or similar, which have sporadic flowers from autumn to spring, but are quite subtle and delicate, not very colourful.

I have seen a Clematis that was in flower early in spring with orange / pink flowers and loads of colour. It was in a pub car park and it was covering their sign. I might pop and and take a cutting ( yes I will ask first )

Would love to include an Honeysuckle But don't think there's enough for ALL 3 ???

The very vigorous types (species clematis, I think I mean) such as Montana and Armandii flower quite early. but they can get a bit out of hand and might not be manageable on an arch with a rose.

PS: and I don't think even they flower until about May.
