Beetle

Black hard shell, ugly, little white spots and body armour , fly and really get a grip on things. Keep looking for name but never find them, are they stag beetles?

    I don't know if they do or not , here these things fly and no not around yet , when gets warmer. Sorry memory re jiggled (random) wanted to know what they are when they arrive , lab olive still has scar on lip from last attachment of one (her own fault trying to eat it) image

    Stag beetles are big.

    how big are these beetles? where do you see them ? (ground, plants, compost heap?) are there lots of them or the occasional one

    Quite a few appear like spiders, come in the house on walls, outside on deck or walls, pergola , like you would see a fly etc size errr, maybe half inch long.

    I'll have a think, not sounding familiar at the moment. When they turn up you may have to take a pic.

    Look up fur beetles which are native and Asian long horned beetles which are a pest and look quite spidery.
