broad bean problem

The flowers at the base of my broad bean plants set well. I thought I nipped the tops off before the blackfly got to work but all the remaining flowers ( and there were lots ) have turned black and shrivelled away. The foliage is healthy and theres very little sign of blackfly . Is this pest or weather related ?

Thats what they do, you should see tiny little beans left when the flowers drop.

If thats not the case, can you show a photo?

I agree - that's what they do - the beans come along after the flowers have dropped.  Broad beans can be quite thirsty at this stage, so if you've not had any rain in the past few days you could give them a drink image

Thanks guys....I think a lot of water is needed as everything is very dry and floppy.

I'll get to it now.... that's bound to ensure heavy rain for days !
