Poinsettia

Was given a Large Poinsettia Christmas 2011 have loved it watered it and feed it and to my mind it is a very healthy plant , But the leaves haven't turned Red what am I doing wrong

    Well done for keeping it healthy, mine always die, but I have an old stone house heated with woodburners in the day so I can't keep the temperature stable. One thing I know is that from autumn they need total darkness for 14 or so hours a night if they are to produce the red bracts.

    You never will-sorry-to get red bracts for  a second year it needs a period of controlled darkness that is difficult to do in the home-leave that tricky bit for the growers

    Best discarded after the first year-regard it as an annual treat.

    But if you want to give it a go..........................
