hi i have this big red spike growing and i dont know what it is, any ideas anyone? (its not attatched to the support, thats for something else)

    ok great thanks, im really not keen on Roses tho to be honest........might have to get rid.....

    its annoying as i hear Roses are hard to grow, this one is doing great while other plants i do like are struggling here n there......ah well image

    Yes, it's a rose - probably a climber - if you can train the canes outwards rather than upwards - as shown by Paul Zimmerman here http://paulzimmermanroses.com/gardening/training-roses/training-climbing-roses-on-a-trellis/ you should get a lovely display of blooms. image

    Edited to add:  roses aren't hard to grow - whoever told you that?  Stuff and nonsense image and you've got one for free, probably £15 worth there. There aren't many things prettier than a climbing rose on an old brick wall.  Give it a go and see what happens image

    hmmm ok why not, ill leave it alone and see what happens i guess image maybe ill become a Rose convert, doubt it thoimage
