Rockery plants
I have a tiered rockery round a piece of lawn at the front but due to the heavy clay, it is either bone dry of sodden, currently i have geranium, ground cover plants like bugle , varigated things from mum , ladys mantel ,primroses amongst the rocks but struggle with normal rock plants due to conditions. I have tried heavenly blue which was not happy there, dianthus the same.
It is north facing but has sun from lunchtime until shielded by the house early evening. Any suggestions what may thrive?

You may like to have a read through this, maybe some ideas, or you could grow some shade loving plants in pots and sink them into the ground.

its so hard when you have clay soil as drainage for the rockery plants is essential,I have tried but have had not much success,I did have snow on the mountain but that has gone, but the thrift is doing OK as long as I leave it alone.
