Whats happening to my conifer - going brown

I have planted 13 conifers around my garden, however 4 of them have went completely brown.

They have all been watered the same and planted in the same compost, is there anything i can do to save them?

Ah ok, so best to pull the dead ones out and buy more?

They have a small bit of green in the centre

    From B&Q

Don't think they would offer a refund but not overly bothered just wanted them to grow.

So is there a chance the others could go brown?

    They get watered daily.

I think i will just buy some more, dont fancy covering my car in dead conifer for the sake of £20.

So just to be sure, these were just unlucky? i dot have dodgy soil or diseases or anything that could affect the others?

I think daily is too much watering. I water things in, very well, a couple of cans each, then leave them for a few days or more depending on weather then do it again.

And if they're root bound you need to loosen them up a bit

When a plant has been in a pot for too long the roots go round in circles in a pot shape, become tightly packed and need help to move outwards. I have an old dinner fork I tease them out with.

so say when i get some more, and there in a pot, should i remove all the mud that comes with them and untangle before i plant in compost?
