Which one should I move?

Two plants have grown in my garden so close together than neither looks good. One is Tradescantia of some kind and the other I think is familiar but I don't know what it is called or what to expect from it. So I have two questions.. Could someone ID the other plant and tell me if it is worth keeping? Also, as I need to separate them, I'd like to know whether to try and move the Tradescantia or the other one. Which would be easier and most likely to transplant easily.

That looks like a seedling of a dogwood. That's the one to move unless you want a large shrub.

Thanks Nutcutlet. I knew it looked familiar but just couldn't place it. I think I'll take it out  and leave the Tradescantia. I'd like to do it now - do you think it will cope with root disturbance now if I keep it well watered afterwards?

I'd still move the dogwood, through the shredderimage

Oh dear, I still don't know what to do! Maybe I'll just dig them both out, plant them where I want them and see how they react. image

Sorry Daryl, I think this is one of the large suckering dogwoods with not much to offer. It doesn't look like one that has red stems that look good in winter.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Sorry, I was a bit confused. Yes, you're right - it doesn't look as if it is going to do anything very interesting.

    Thanks for your help image
