Cut Flowers for September Wedding Bouquet?

I'm finally getting married to my partner in mid September this year! 

As a hands on kind of person I'd love to be able to plant and grow some of my own wedding flowers.

I am looking for a selection of vintage style flowers that work well togeher in purples, whites, greens and maybe a little blue. I'm not a fan of pinks and peach colours.

I love lavender and sweet peas (they remind me of my Grandma's garden as a child). I already have a good varety of French and English Lavender that I will be using and I plan to sow some blue/purple sweet peas, but other than that I am stuck.

I am fairly new to gardenening and don't have lots of time to spare so nothing too technical.

Unfortunately we live on top of a hill which can get very windy and we have heavy clay soil that I am still working my way through with grit. The aspect is East/West facing so the sunlight doesn't stay in one place for very long.

I have plenty of pots that can be moved around though and lots of space that needs filling up, I am also not afraid of a little hard work!

Is there anything any of you could reccomend? And if so any tips on how to grow them and get the best flowers (baring in mind its September this year) would be really appreciated!

    Two spring immediately to mind-that are fairly easy to grow and should be in flower in September-Dahlias and Chrysanthemums-come in a variety of colours and forms-not too difficult ?

    ooh yes I really like both dahlias and Chrysanth's.

    I had a go at growing dahlias last year but unfortunately my resident slug & snail population look a liking to them too!

    I'll certainly try again though.. and invest in more copper tape!

    Roses do well on clay-again lots of choice-and you will get flowers in the first yearimage-and you can grow in potsimage

    What about nigella and cornflower. I know they are blue but cornflower is lovely especially

    Hello Rachel image I grow Salvia Evolution or Victoria in my garden and it is usually still good in September. Heliotrope is lovely - purple and scented - cherry pie.Cosmos comes in white - this year I am growing a variety called Antiquity which is a lovely muted colour. For green flowers you could try Lime green Nicotiana or Molucella.I will keep thinking image

    Wow.. Thank you all! That certainly gives me something to look into.

    I had some beautiful rose trees from my great aunt at Christmas which I'm hoping will be in flower by then.



    I hadn't thought of cornflower or cosmos though.. And I'll have to google the other suggestions, because I've never heard if them. They all sound brilliant though thank you!

    try dahlia, rosa william and kate, crysanths, cornflower and some cosmos.

    Michaelmas daisies, there's one called "Monch" that flowers August/September and lots of others, but they are perennial and may not have enough flowers the first year. You can sow zinnias from seed, easy to grow if the summer is good!!! They last well in water, so do crysanths. Delphiniums, larkspur, salvias, veronica. May be a little tricky getting flowers at their best exactly when you want them, but dahlias, as everyone says, are a pretty good bet.
