can anyone help id this please

i dug it out of my border and kept it incase it was something exciting- but hasnt done anything exciting yet!

    Could it be a small forsythia bush?

    yes- its defo a shrub- got a woody stem

    arent forsythias (or 'Bruce's' as i like to call them ????) more thin and stick like?
