It began to grow in a pot which I purchased for the 'astrantia claret' as I was about to plant out the astrantia, this emerged and I decided to plant out this too as it had a healthy root within the pot, that was last year and it has self seeded profusely and has just started flowering with these white flowers.
When you say big, what sort of size and is is possible or safe to move right to the back of the garden ? It currently resides in a border next to our patio. Thanks.

Grows into a very large tree
Hi All
Can anyone identify this for me?
It began to grow in a pot which I purchased for the 'astrantia claret' as I was about to plant out the astrantia, this emerged and I decided to plant out this too as it had a healthy root within the pot, that was last year and it has self seeded profusely and has just started flowering with these white flowers.
Centranthus ruber 'Alba'
Thanks for that, Dove - a bird or the wind must have dropped a seed in there,

It's a very big tree, but you can cut it right down every year to keep it smaller, I believe.
Thank you for this information - I will keep an eye on it and have the pruners on standby!
