I direct sowed some sunflowers here late last spring and never saw them again. Am I being wildly optimistic that these are them, or shall I dig them out?
The kind of sunflowers you could direct sow are annuals, so it definitely won't be them! The pink flowered one is an aquilegia, the others look suspiciously like some kind of willow herb. Slugs and snails love sunflower seedlings, so you would do better starting them off in pots and planting them out when they are a bit larger, with slug protection. Have they actually got room to grow there?
Thanks all - will be getting them out tomorrow. Buttercupsdays it is a tiny place just by garage, just want to cheer it up. Think I'll put some nasturtium seen there, or maybe some forget me nots.

They don't look like sunflowers to me.
I can't see them well enough to give an opinion
In the sticks near Peterborough
The tall ones on the right look like weeds to me
