Hedge

Hi I planted this hedging 3 months ago in a coastal area that gets lots of wind and rain. It is beginning to lose its lower leaves and is turning yellow. Does anybody have any idea what is wrong or what I need to do? The plants were sown without root system, are they dying on me??

A photo might help with the diagnosis.

Ciaran 4, you say "the plants were sown without root system".  Do you mean they were cuttings, maybe pushed into the ground?  A bit more information could help us to help you.  image

Sorry for lack of information, I will post a photo ASAP, they were not cuttings but bare root stems, they did not have a full root system. Thanks for the comments!

A photo would be good!  Whereabouts in Ireland are you?  And what sort of soil do you have?  (waterlogged, free-draining etc).

Hi Liriodendron, I am in Wexford, south east, near windswept Carnesore Point. We have a sandy free draining soil. I will try to pop down to take a photo today at some stage!
