Mossy bloom

The grow bag compost around my 'vigourous' tomatoe plants has developed a mossy bloom. Is this due to moisture in the greenhouse? Is it likely to harm the plants?

It's completely natural and won't harm the toms. Scrape it off if your'e worried.

Did you Fluff up the compost in the bag and turn it on its side before you planted up,  grow bags are very compressed when they are new, just get a little trowel and loosen the surface.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

Thanks Dave. Thanks Lyn. My first year with my new 6 by 8 Simplicity green house so I am fussing about like a mother hen. Yes. Bounced the GBs about well befor use and I am using Grow Pots and the 'mossy bloom is appearing in the grow ring itself. Now I have the advice of two 'pros' I will stop worrying.

    Again. Thanks for your response.
