New lawn

We planted a new lawn last year but unfortunately it seems that during the hot autumn, it got infected with leather jacket. The turf supplier arranged for it to be sprayed at which point it then went worse and completely died. However replacement turf was arranged, the original was all dug up along the pesky bugs and reprepapred.

We laid fresh again at the weekend and I want to give this one every possible chance. I'm watering it daily and just wondering if it's worth giving it some miracle gro lawn feed which I bought previously to try and help, although worried of using too much. There are some gaps as well on the sides of the turfs were they didn't butt up very well but assume they will go soon.

They just supplied it and I laid it.  I've read various posts about putting fertilizer down right away after laying and some saying not to put anything down for a while

Ok thanks.  I'll hang fire with the fertilizer for now then and continue to water it daily.  Will try and cut it a bit earlier this time as well, last time I think I possibly left it too long and when my dad did it with his petrol, it did seems to hack it a bit, although it did recover

Yep will do thank you.  Will go out with a rule to measure if.  To be honest I have a cheapy Qualcast electric one but will put on the highest setting to start with.  I'll give it a week and then start pulling to see if they have rooted.

Everything was going well last year until the leatherjacket and everyone has told me since that last year was particularly bad

Just an update to this, it's been down for 2 weeks now, about 10cms in height, just wondering whether to cut this weekend. Again posts I've found online vary up to 4 weeks before cutting but don't want to leave it too long

Lawn overall looking good, just a few patches which I don't know if I need to be concerned with.  I've been watering it daily and having to cut it weekly and only just on the last 2 cuts gone down to a medium setting.  A few of the patches where I can see there isn't anything I've put some seed down which can be seen in the pictures.

That looks exceptionally good to me, considering the dry weather we've had lately.

    Thank you.

What about the patches?  Looks like some leaves have gone brown and dying.  Was cutting it on highest setting and had to do every week.  Lowered a setting and almost every week again, although looking at the length I think I can miss this week.  I've fed it twice with miracle gro, just concerned on the patches

You should see mine!  It's brown all over after the drought - haven't mowed for three weeks and it's hardly grown - I usually mow it at least once a week on medium setting - hopefully the rain we're getting will green it up and get it growing again soon.
