help identify plant

Hi I'm just wondering if any one can help me identify this plant at the top of my garden in the new house I've moved in to. It's really old and all the branches bar one were dead and snapped off but one branch remained strong and it has lots of holly type leaves on it with lots of berries growing when squeezed dark purple juice is in them. Any help would be appreciated

    Possibly Mahonia which have dark blue berries but could look black.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Just google imaged that and spot on that's what it is thanks for that
