Leylandi Hedges

I have two large Leylandi hedges - planted basically for privacy.  These have looked really nice because we keep them under control and clip them regularly but recently I have noticed some brown patches appearing in both of these although they are a long way apart.  Has anyone elses hedges suffered like this and is there anything I can do to rectify this problem?

    There's an aphid specific to conifers which causes brown patches.  I think you'll need to google "brown patches leylandii" and see whether that's the problem.  I believe there can be a number of causes so you may need to do a bit of detective work.
