Astilbes are pretty tough marc so I doubt it's anything too serious. The young, new foliage may just have a had a bit of frost damage if they're in a cold spot. I take it they've been well watered in and are established? Can't think of anything else it might be but perhaps someone else will have more ideas for you.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

thank you mike that is very true it was undercover in the gc now i think of it and although i did prepare the hole, i didn't harden it off as i am an impatient gardener
I think I may dig that one up and put it in fresh compost in the greenhouse for a bit. I don't think it is lack of water as there are others around it and there twice as big and growing lovely

i planted on two months ago and the leaves on more than half of mine are now brown, it also started with the edges and we haven't had frosts
thanks, to be honest it could have dried out a bit when it was hot, hopefully the recent rain will revive it
