Healthy Dalek?

I have read frequently on this site that worms make a healthy soil, so . . . . is my Dalek composter bin a healthy bin?   There are dozens of large worms there!.   I have left the lid off for a while, and either the worms will escape or the birds will get well fed.   Wish I had a camera trained on it so I could watch!   

Whenever we open the lid we do remove any worms which have crawled up and are looking for an escape, but I have never seen so many large ones at one time.

I know there is a pair of bluetits nesting just behind the bin, clever choice, wasn't it?
