Weeds ?

These little things are growing in my compost in pots that have dahlias beneath. Are they weeds or flowers from last year. As always, grateful for help and advice. image

    Those look suspiciously like bindweed seedlings, but could be one of the cultivated forms of convolvulous - did you grow any last year?

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Bindweed. Lift the tuber carefully and change the compost. There's still time.

    I thought they might have been bindweed but the root is only very small, I will  take out anyway. Thanks for the help. image

    ... or as Bob says, Morning Glory - mine sometimes self-seed.  If they've got the remains of a black/brown seedcase at the base it might be worth potting them on and waiting to see what happens image
