Advice on small greenhouse / shed

We've only got a small garden with a couple of big raised beds which I tend to pack with fruit & veg, with some shrubs and climbing plants. Our house is semi-detached so I've also got a decent sized concreted side return, though (about 30 foot long x 7 foot wide), and I'd really like to fit in both a shed for storage of tools (at the moment they live in my basement) and some sort of greenhouse, especially so I can start fruit/veg from seed with protection from the elements.

So, would be really grateful for any advice on good places to look for the above. I haven't that much space, but equally with a small garden I don't need either a huge shed or greenhouse. Ideally I'd like some kind of combination solution that doesn't completely dwarf the side return - I need something that's wide rather than deep because of the shape of it.

Any thoughts gratefully accepted!

Thanks - I'm familiar with it! image

It's more that there seem to be plenty of companies, plus I've got relatively specific requirements, so wondered if there are any websites that people would particularly rate - e.g. are known as combi-greenhouse specialists, cater for people with smaller spaces etc.

  • Hi, we moved into a rented house which has a smallish garden, and then a separate largish patio area, but with absolutely nowhere at all to keep garden tools, lawnmower, etc.  I wanted a greenhouse but because of the way the garden is set up there wasn't really anywhere to put it, so we compromised and bought a potting shed type thing from ebay for the patio.  It has slanted windows and a potting shelf so seedlings and plants will get lots of light and then underneath we have shoved all the garden tool things.  The company we got it from offered different sizes (I think we got 4x7' as it needed to tuck in next to the patio gate) and was the only place I found that did smallish sheds.  So it's worth having a look on ebay!

You can also get half-type greenhouses that fit onto the wall of a building. ie 3 sides of glass, often quite narrow in depth. That way you'd get more light to the plants, plus any residual warmth from the brickwork at the back. J.
