Talkback: Sowing vegetable seeds outdoors

  • Hi Jane, I am a first time gardener. I never had such a big garden in my life! I have been growing green beans indoors. A bit too early I guess - I was too eager. They are 25cm high now. When is it safe to plant them outside? When is there no more risk of frost?

I've never grown Butternut squash seeds, but have saved some from a supermarket purchased fruit. Do you grown them on the ground like courgettes or on a low frame. Advice wanted please. Waddy.
  • Hi Gemma,  I grow my runner indoors too.  Don't plant them out until you have hardened them off though.  Put them outside during the day and bring them in at night for about a week, then it should be OK to plant them out.  Good luck.
