Pruning Portuguese Laurel

I have just replaced an overgrown leylandii hedge with 2m high rootball Portuguese Laurel. The old stumps were ground out and well-rotted horse manure added. The plants have about 18inches between their foliage, and ideally should be another metre high to obscure an unsightly view. How and when should I prune them to achieve this extra height and also bush out their width as soon as possible?

Patience Johnny5, If you keep them well watered in their first year they'll reward you in year 2. Most hedging takes a year to get going, and portuguese laurel is slow to start. By year 3 you may be cursing cutting it.
