I chop those sedums right back to ground almost.

It really depends where you are and how much growth the plants have put on. We are lucky to have a plant the size they crop down to
The only plants I have big enough to chop are the self sown margaritas
but they are everywhere
As I am opening my garden in June I shan't be chopping.

I'd like a more comprehensive list of choppable plants - is there a rule of thumb? I don't want to hack all my flowers unnecessarily!
