I keep my cold greenhouse above zero on cold nights by burning one or two candles on a plate and under a plant pot. These fat candles burn happily all night and raise the temperature 3 or 4 degrees - just enough to stop any damage to my tender seedlings.

I currently use a coldframe, unheated, and nights are supposedly 4C outdoors. My chillis are thriving. A greenhouse must keep the T 3-4 C above ambient, if not more.
Interesting idea about the candles.
