What (or who) is this in the pond?

Over the last few weeks I have noticed several of these little grubs in our wildlife pond. Anyone have any idea what they could be?

Noooo I don't think it is... they have been in there for a few weeks and there are several of them. I'm pretty sure they sure they are in the intentionally. They look pretty happy!
A type of fly - Latin name Bibio, don't know if it has a common name.
Edit. Just looked it up and it is commonly called St. Mark's fly because it emerges on St Mark's Day (whenever that is!)
Edd, I've just googled it... Wikipedia says leather jackets can be found in water!
You got there first! Yes, I stand corrected. That is very cool... and slightly disgusting!

No?
Sorry, the link won't work, but take a look at bibio larvae on wikipedia. The size is the crucial factor, I suppose.
