Will a Lavatera work in partial shade?

in Plants
Hi all, I have a gap in a north west facing border, backed by a 5 foot fence.. so the ground level is in shade most on the day until late afternoon, but the top of fence is in sun most of day. I'm looking for a fast growing shrub, preferably which flowers in summer. I saw a Lavatera 'Barnsley' which would look lovely there, however it says it needs 'full sun'. Any ideas if it would work in the area I want it to? Is it likely to go leggy? or not flower? Otherwise, any other ideas for the spot?

That is pretty, will be interesting to find out, might get this

My Lavatera is in a similar situation and flowers beautifully. I cut it back to about a foot high every year and by the end of the summer it's about 6ft tall.
Think I will go ahead and try it then. Fingers crossed
