Clematis - will it damage wall/foundation of building

Hi, I would like to plant a climber that will grow up a trellis on an external garage wall.  I would like something that won't damage the wall or garage foundations, do you think that a Clemitis will be suitable?

    Clematis won't do that sort of damage, so don't worry about it.

    Clematis doesn't cling like ivy or Virginia Creeper. It winds it's leaves around the supports you give it.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
