will a diesel spill kill the grass
please can anyone help how long does it take for diesel to kill the grass, I have had a minor spill of diesel on my lawn, it happened a 2 days ago and their is no dying grass have I avoided having to dig up that part of my lawn or is the diesel still going to kill it

Get some detergent on there ASAP to disperse the diesel, then soak it really well with the hose. About all you can do, you'll just have to see how it goes I'm afraid.
If you diluted it with lots of water at the time, then it should be OK.
My sister has a house in Spain and they ( the Spanish ) commonly use diesel as a weedkiller on gravel drives.
Diesel or oil doesn't disperse in soil whatever you add to it, it persists. If it's only a little spill you'll get away with it, but things will die in the area. The only real solution is to dig it out and replace the soil. The chemicals in diesel are toxic as are the oil particles. If the diesel soaked in watering it will disperse the chemicals over a wider area, it lessens the effects, but has the potential to poison a wider area.
