Getting crafty with corn

I wondered if anyone knew if it was possible to create something 'artistic' or 'crafty' with corn cobs that have fully grown but not ripened due to the bad summer we have had?

I have so many lovely cobs it seems such a waste to just chop them up and put them into the compost bin.

Leave them on the lawn for the birds.  Then you can compost the remains.

Around Halloween you can find slightly similar craft items, made from Indian maize, for sale in supermarkets, like this...

I'm not sure how those are intended to be used. They may be intended to bring good luck, or to be a charm of some form. Or they may have been used in some form of ritual. Corn has a religious significance in many cultures (including Christianity).

Corn dollies are slightly related, though they are made from stalks of corn.

You could make some very original Christmas decorations.

Be careful where you leave them, because mice love them.
