Early potatoes

What are your favourite new pototoes ?? There seems to be so many to choose from and being a novice it's hard to choose !!  I don't have a huge space and will only grow some first earlies.

Thanks everyone

I've gone for Foremost. I grew it last year and had a pretty decent crop.

    Devon.

CLER do you like white potatoes or creamy waxy ones?

I grow Charlotte, which is a second early, as it's such a good, healthy all rounder. It can be dug early for delicious waxy new potatoes and left in the ground for old general purpose potatoes.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I'm using Charlotte this year as a pretend first early (or early second early lol)

Chose it because it is slug resistant. Tried Duke of York as a first early last year, though it cropped well I lost more than a 1/2 of the crop which rotted in the ground.

I'm going to try Kestrel and Cara as the true second early and main this year. Again both slug resistant.

Rocket and Anya have superb taste similar to Jersy Royals

  • 'Swift'...an excellent variety, ready for harvesting in 8 to 10 weeks and that's very quick.

    Trust your uncle Dave! image
