Berberis darwini question

Just a quick question, i would like the berberis shown below to be quite bushy when i plant out in the spring.

 should i shape it. or let it do its thing, to me it looks like it is rambling.

Is it in the house? It will grow long and lanky in the warmth with low light.

I'd start getting that outside on nice days.

and I would cut back the rambling bits
