allotment area problem

Hi - we took up flags to set up a small allotment area at bottom of garden only to find a concrete area under sand which must have been a greenhouse base surround. We could put a raised bed in that area, but how deep should it be to get best results? There is still an area of soil for other veg, but not much. Thanks in anticipation of your advice.
