old pond
hi
I have an unused koy pond 12ft x 8ft and 4ft deep which i intend to fill in. Unfortunately the garden faces north and the pond is in the shadow of the house most of the day. I thought of having a vegetable patch or soft fruit bed but am worried about lack of sun.Has anyone got any ideas?

If you are going to grow things such as cabbages and carrots that don't need to flower you should be OK. And fruit like blackcurrants and raspberries are more than happy to grow in shade.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
I would go with soft fruit. Think of woodland plants, things that evolved growing in the shadows of trees. You won't get a huge crop due to it being shade the majority of the day (most woodland soft fruit grows in dappled shade or along the edges of the woods in part shade).. but you'll get something.
